The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
Bilateral relations
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste were established on 5 April 2004. In 2024, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta exchanged congratulatory letters.
By Order No. 864 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 25 December 2025, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Indonesia Ramil Rzayev was concurrently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (resident in Jakarta). The Ambassador presented his credentials to President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta on 2 March 2026.
There is currently no Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste accredited to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Currently, there are no inter-parliamentary friendship or working groups in the parliaments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Legal framework
Currently, there is no legal framework between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Economic cooperation
According to the data of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, no trade turnover between the two countries has been recorded in recent years.
