Bilateral relations
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea were established on 23 March 1992.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Azerbaijan was established on 4 March 2006, and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Korea was established on 14 March 2007.
By the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 19 August 2022, Ramin Hasanov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Korea.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kimqu Kang presented a copy of his credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on 23 May 2025, and his credentials to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 15 June 2025.

Friendship groups
The working group on Azerbaijan–Korea inter-parliamentary relations in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan is headed by Malik Hasanov.
The Korea–Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea is headed by Lee Man-hee.

The legal framework between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea comprises 71 documents.
Economic cooperation
The Republic of Azerbaijan is the largest and most important trade and economic partner of the Republic of Korea in the South Caucasus. The Republic of Korea is one of the largest sources of foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector.
The interest of Korean companies in the economy and products of Azerbaijan is steadily growing. Currently, 81 commercial entities with Korean investment are registered in the fields of industry, construction, trade, transport and services, 56 of which are active.

The decrease in imports was mainly due to reduced imports of land vehicles and their parts (primarily passenger cars), equipment, mechanical appliances and their parts, electrical equipment and their parts, man-made fibres, cotton and articles thereof, as well as other products.
The decrease in exports was mainly due to reduced exports of jet fuel (kerosene), plants used in perfumery and pharmacy, as well as other products.
