No:522/24, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Kęstutis Budrys, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania

On 31 December 2024, Kęstutis Budrys, newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, made a phone call to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
Minister Kęstutis Budrys conveyed his condolences in connection with the tragic crash of the passenger aircraft belonging to “Azerbaijan Airlines” near the city of Aktau while operating the Baku–Grozny flight, prayed for mercy for those who lost their lives as a result of the crash and wished recovery to the injured. Minister K. Budrys stressed that he regrets that the first phone call is being conducted in connection with such a sorrowful day, and that the Lithuanian side is always ready to provide possible support in the direction of the rehabilitation of the injured and the investigation of the causes of the tragedy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked for the condolences and the solidarity shown, and, stating that the investigation of the causes of the aircraft crash is under the direct control of the country’s leadership and that a state commission has been established in this direction, provided information on the works carried out.
During the telephone conversation, the Ministers also discussed regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues. In connection with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, the importance of intensifying cooperation relations was emphasized.
