No:452/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization

On 15 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
At the meeting, issues standing on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the ECO, prospects for cooperation in the direction of combating climate change, as well as our country’s COP29 Presidency were discussed.
The meeting held between the sides within the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly was recalled, and it was stressed that such contacts are useful in terms of discussing cooperation issues.
The importance of advancing initiatives such as environmental protection and green energy within the framework of the ECO was noted.
The other side stated that the successful organization of COP29 by Azerbaijan is a source of pride for the ECO, congratulated our country in this regard and wished success in its Presidency activities.
The importance of implementing joint initiatives within the framework of COP29 in terms of regional and global climate efforts was noted.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
