No:384/25, Press release on the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Japan

On 2 October 2025, the next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan was held in the city of Baku.
The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov and by Deputy Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Special Representative for Central Asia, the Caucasus and GUAM Masaki Ishikawa.
During the political consultations, an exchange of views was held on cooperation in political, economic, investment, trade, education, culture, humanitarian, energy, ecology, climate, tourism and other fields.
Various areas of development of bilateral relations, the importance of discussions conducted in the international arena and on regional issues in terms of mutual understanding, and the necessity of continuing cooperation within the framework of international organizations were particularly noted.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov provided the other side with detailed information on Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, the normalization process in relations with Armenia, as well as reconstruction and building works and investment projects in the liberated territories.
