No:274/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili

On 27 June 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, within the framework of his official visit to Georgia.
During the meeting, issues on the strategic partnership agenda between Azerbaijan and Georgia, the prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the current situation in the region were discussed.
It was noted with satisfaction that mutually beneficial cooperation of a strategic partnership nature between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, investments, energy, transport and communications, humanitarian and other areas is developing successfully. The importance of cooperation and ongoing work within the framework of the Middle Corridor was emphasized.
In addition, the importance of expanding joint efforts within the trilateral format among Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, both at the level of foreign ministers and parliaments, was highlighted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the significant role of parliamentary diplomacy, mutual visits of speakers and members of parliament, as well as extensive cooperation between friendship groups in advancing the multifaceted cooperation agenda between our countries.
The contribution of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries to the friendly and good-neighborly relations between our peoples was positively assessed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in our country this year, noting that new opportunities have emerged to further expand cooperation within the framework of COP29.
The other side was also informed about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale reconstruction and rebuilding works carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as the peace and normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also signed the Book of Honored Guests of the Parliament.
