No:162/25, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

On 21 April 2025, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
Within the framework of the visit, the second meeting of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria was held in the city of Algiers. The political consultations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side and by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lounes Magramane from the Algerian side. During the consultations, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state and future development prospects of bilateral political, economic, trade, and interparliamentary relations. It was noted that there are broad opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of oil and gas, as well as renewable energy.
In a multilateral format, particularly within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation were discussed. It was particularly noted that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2026 is an important event, and our country’s reputation and rich experience in hosting international events create confidence in the successful organization of the said summit.
The Algerian side was informed about the post-conflict situation and the peace process, including the reconstruction and restoration work carried out in the liberated territories, the clearance of our territories from mines, and the return of our citizens to their native lands.
During the political consultations, the sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Ahmed Attaf. During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the dynamic development of political relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria, and the necessity of expanding cooperation between our countries in the fields of economy, trade, and investment was emphasized.
Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev also familiarized himself with the National Museum of the Mujahideen of Algeria. During the visit to the museum, information was provided about the resistance movement of the Algerian people against colonialism.
