No:109/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Rebeca Grynspan

On 13 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Rebeca Grynspan, within the framework of the 12th Global Baku Forum.

 

During the meeting, various aspects and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, opportunities for interaction in efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that our chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and our cooperation with the United Nations in organizing the event are exemplary in nature, and emphasized the importance of continuing this dynamic in the future.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke in detail about the international assistance initiatives implemented by our country as a donor state and brought to attention that, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of assistance measures were implemented to support developing countries in combating the pandemic, including in the post-pandemic period.

 

The other side was also informed in detail about the achievements made within the framework of COP29, in particular the determination of a new collective quantified goal on climate finance, the reaching of an agreement on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement regulating carbon markets, as well as a number of initiatives implemented.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
