No:064/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Croatia

On 19 February 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Croatia was held in the city of Baku.

The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of the Republic of Croatia was led by the State Secretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Frano Matušić.

During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian fields, including within the framework of international organizations, as well as on strategic energy and transport projects implemented by Azerbaijan.

An exchange of views was held on the preparations and forthcoming work related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan will host in November of the current year, and it was noted that this prestigious event will create new opportunities for the development of the existing strategic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards establishing sustainable peace in the region, and the mine problem in our territories liberated from occupation. The other side was also informed about the demining of our liberated territories, the restoration and reconstruction works carried out there, and the possibilities for cooperation in these areas.

During the political consultations, regional and international issues, as well as other topics of mutual interest, were also discussed.
