On 18 January 2024, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Moosa Zameer, within the framework of the 19th Summit Meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Kampala, the Republic of Uganda.
During the meeting, the sides noted the importance of further developing bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of conducting high-level visits.
It was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Azerbaijan this year, is important for further development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives conveyed his congratulations to Azerbaijan on its successful chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan, as a member of the troika, will spare no efforts to further strengthen the Movement. He emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between two countries in the fields of tourism, air transport, education, and other humanitarian areas.
During the meeting, other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
