No:005/26, Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Edmondo Cirielli

On 13 January 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Edmondo Cirielli, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed regarding the current state of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, and the prospects for multidimensional strategic partnership relations between the two countries in political, security, economic, trade, energy, humanitarian, education, and other areas were discussed. In particular, the importance of joint projects in the fields of energy and education, including the activities of the Italy–Azerbaijan University, was noted.
It was emphasized that the 6th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Italian Republic, held today in Baku, was successfully completed and that the agreements reached will provide additional momentum to bilateral relations.
The parties also exchanged views on the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, including energy and transport projects and alternative energy initiatives.
Additionally, other international and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.
On the same day, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Italy were held. The consultations were led by Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev from the Azerbaijani side, and Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli from the Italian side.
