No:363/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe

On 24 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
At the meeting, issues on the existing agenda between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed.
It was stated that Azerbaijan, based on dialogue and mutual respect, is always open to cooperation with the institutions of the Council of Europe.
Nevertheless, it was emphasized that the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in January of the current year on non-ratification of the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation, in addition to being groundless and openly biased, does not serve dialogue.
It was emphasized that all differences of opinion between the sides must be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect and understanding, and that the expectation of the Azerbaijani side from the Council of Europe and its institutions is precisely this.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided the other side with detailed information on the current situation and realities in the post-conflict period, and spoke about the course of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
