On 1 August 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the delegation led by Mehmet Samsar, Head of the Directorate General for Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, who is on a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, issues arising from the existing allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, cooperation within multilateral formats, as well as regional and international security matters were discussed.
It was emphasized that such mutual visits and inter-ministerial consultations are important for holding comprehensive discussions on bilateral and regional issues on the agenda between the two countries.
The necessity of intensifying cooperation between the two countries within international and regional organizations, particularly within the Organization of Turkic States, as well as within various trilateral and multilateral formats involving two countries, was noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side in detail about the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It was noted that challenges to the peace process still remain, including ongoing claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty enshrined in Armenia’s Constitution, as well as steps by third states contributing to Armenia’s militarization and posing a threat to regional stability.
It was stated that such threats hinder peace and stability, mutual cooperation in the region, the development of regional transport links, and overall regional normalization, and the importance of eliminating these threats was emphasized.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
