On 21 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated and delivered a speech at the extraordinary meeting organized within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in the city of Istanbul.

In his address, it was noted that the sharp deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East as a result of the Israel-Iran confrontation is a matter of concern, and that the situation threatening the lives of civilians, as well as regional and international stability, is unacceptable.

It was stated that the damage caused to civilian and nuclear infrastructure in the territory of Iran, with which we have close ethnic and cultural ties and neighborly relations based on the norms of international law, particularly sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders, is a particular source of concern in terms of posing a serious threat to the civilian population and the environment on a regional scale.

The importance of refraining from steps that could lead to further escalation of the situation was emphasized.

In the address, a call was made to prevent another prolonged armed confrontation in a region already affected by conflicts and crises, to immediately cease all military operations, and to restore the diplomatic process based on the norms and principles of international law.
