No:208/17, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the vice speaker of National Assembly of Hungary Janos Latorcai and the head of Commitee on Foreign Affairs Zsolt Nemeth within the official visit to Hungary

The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the two countries at the level of strategic partnership. It was noted that bonds of friendship between Azerbaijan and Hungarian people have deep historical roots.

The interlocutors also stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in advancement of relations between the two countries. In this context, they expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Hungary would give a tangible impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation

Noting the special role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of strategic partnership ties between Azerbaijan and Hungary they emphasized the importance of regular exchange of visits and meetings between interparliamentary friendship groups.

It was commended that the position of Azerbaijan and Hungary on the issues of the international agenda coincide.

During the meeting the sides emphasized the importance of promoting direct contacts between business circles for further development of cooperation in transport, energy, tourism, education, agriculture, pharmacy and other spheres.

As a friendly and partner country, Hungary's support for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and EU was particularly highlighted.

During the meeting, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov briefed the interlocutors about the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and its serious consequences and the negotiation process on the settlement of the conflict. Minister Mammadyarov highly appreciated Hungary's support for the fair and just position of Azerbaijan and the settlement of the conflict based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized borders Azerbaijan.
