No:151/26, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany

On 10 April 2026, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany was held in the city of Baku.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, and the German delegation was headed by the Commissioner for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany Niklas Wagner.
Within the framework of the consultations, the current state of political relations on issues of bilateral cooperation was reviewed, and the importance of mutual visits and meetings within the framework of international events in terms of maintaining continuous political dialogue was emphasized. At the same time, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in economic, energy, transport and humanitarian fields were discussed.
Information was provided on strategic energy and transport projects implemented with the initiative and participation of Azerbaijan. Views were also exchanged on existing plans aimed at expanding the contractual and legal framework. The sides focused on issues of mutual cooperation on international platforms, as well as the development of cooperation within the framework of various international organizations and mutual support of candidacies.
During the consultations, detailed information was provided on the current situation in the region, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and the steps taken towards ensuring sustainable peace, as well as on the large-scale restoration, reconstruction and demining works carried out in our territories liberated from occupation.
At the same time, views were exchanged on international issues of mutual interest.
