On 12 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Khaleel, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in economic-trade, investment, tourism, humanitarian and other fields were discussed.
The importance of the visit of the President of the Maldives to our country, as well as the meetings held at the highest and high levels within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change held in our country last year, was noted.
The importance of using the mechanism of political consultations in developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Maldives was emphasized. In this context, the issues discussed during the Azerbaijani government mission to the Maldives were reviewed.
Discussing opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism, the ministers noted that the launch of direct flights between our countries since last year is important in terms of expanding travel opportunities for our citizens.
Opportunities for mutual support and cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, were discussed.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
