No:108/24, Press release on consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye

On 7 March 2024, the next consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye were held in the city of Baku.
The initial stage of the consultations was conducted with the participation of the delegations headed by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emil Safarov and the Director General for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hayriye Nurdan Erpulat Altuntaş.
At the main stage of the consultations, discussions were carried out on the development of cooperation in consular, migration, justice and a number of other fields with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Yasin Ekrem Serim.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current state of bilateral cooperation in the consular field between the two countries, the development of cooperation, including the contractual and legal framework in the field, the protection of the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the two states, and the provision of necessary consular assistance to them.
The sides, exchanging information on the latest developments implemented in the consular field, also emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the fields of education, migration and other areas.
At the same time, within the framework of the consultations, during the meeting held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Yasin Ekrem Serim, views were exchanged on the prospects of cooperation in the fields of transport and trade between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye, and the importance of continuing cooperation within the framework of international organizations was noted.
Y. Rafiyev informed the other side about the work carried out within the framework of preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
Officials of the Ministry of Justice and the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior and the Directorate General of Migration Management of the Republic of Türkiye also participated in the meetings.
