No:020/26, Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Gideon Sa’ar

On 26 January 2026, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Sa’ar, who is on a visit to our country.

 

The tête-à-tête meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Gideon Sa’ar was subsequently continued in an expanded format with the participation of the delegations of both sides.

 

During the meetings, the current state and future prospects of development of Azerbaijan–Israel relations across bilateral and multilateral cooperation tracks, as well as the regional situation, were discussed.

 

It was emphasized that reciprocal visits reflect the strategic partnership nature of interstate relations based on mutual trust and shared interests.

It was noted that economic cooperation constitutes one of the key pillars of bilateral relations. The significant potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, investments, tourism, transport and logistics, high technologies, defense and security, green energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals was highlighted. In this regard, the role of the Joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Israel was particularly underscored. Confidence was expressed that the business forum to be held during the visit of the Israeli Minister would provide additional impetus to the development of economic ties.

 

The importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the historical ties between our peoples, and the contribution of the centuries-old Jewish community in Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani community in Israel to the development of our relations were emphasized.

 

An exchange of views was held on international and regional issues. The situation in the Gaza Strip, efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East, as well as the normalization agenda in the post-conflict period in the South Caucasus were discussed.

 

The other side was informed about the return of former internally displaced persons to the territories liberated from occupation and the mine threat that hampers this process.

 

Following the meetings, a joint press conference was held, and the Ministers delivered statements on the outcomes of the discussions.
