On 27 December 2024, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.
During the phone call, regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues were discussed.
Minister Hakan Fidan once again expressed the condolences of the state and people of Türkiye in connection with the tragic crash of our country’s passenger aircraft near the city of Aktau while operating the Baku–Grozny flight, prayed for mercy for those who lost their lives as a result of the crash and wished recovery to the injured. It was stressed that Türkiye always stands in solidarity with brotherly Azerbaijan and is always ready to provide possible support.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked for the condolences and the continued support and solidarity shown, and, stating that the investigation of the causes of the aircraft crash is under the direct control of the country’s leadership and that a state commission has been established in this direction, provided information on the works carried out.
The sides also discussed the current situation in the Middle East, including around Syria. Our country’s intention to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria was discussed.
During the phone call, prospects and plans for cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States were also reviewed.
Within the framework of the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
