No:505/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Marko Djuric, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia

On 23 December 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Marko Djuric, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Serbia.

During the expanded meeting, the Ministers exchanged views on various aspects of the Azerbaijan–Serbia strategic partnership, including regional and international security issues.

 

Satisfaction was expressed with the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries based on mutual respect and reliable partnership, the basic norms and principles of international law, especially mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

Among the factors contributing to the development of the strategic partnership, the importance of mutual visits at the highest and high levels, and friendship between the leaders was emphasized.

 

Satisfaction was expressed with the level of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy security, transport, culture and tourism, and the necessity of developing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investments was emphasized.

 

The contributions of cooperation in the humanitarian field and mutual visa exemption measures to the expansion of people-to-people relations were noted.

 

The importance of continuing mutual support and solidarity within the framework of regional and international organizations hereafter was noted.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the successes achieved at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in our country, and gratitude was expressed for the participation and contributions of the Serbian side at the highest level. Information was provided on our country’s plans in the field of green energy and the role of our region in the field of electricity export.

 

Success was wished to Serbia in the preparatory works for Expo 2027, and it was emphasized that this event is an indicator of Serbia’s growing importance.

 

The other side was also informed in detail about the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, projects implemented in Garabagh and East Zangezur, as well as the current state of the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The importance of reaching agreement on the provisions remaining open in the peace treaty and putting an end to the claims directed against the territorial integrity of our country in the Constitution of Armenia for eliminating the existing challenges that pose a threat to the peace process was noted. Along with this, it was stressed that Armenia’s efforts to obstruct the formal dissolution of the Minsk Group within the framework of the OSCE contradict the peace process.

 

Along with this, at the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on other issues of mutual interest.

 

Later, at the press conference held, the Ministers delivered statements on the outcomes of the meeting.
