No:477/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission

On 4 December 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, within the framework of his participation in the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.
At the meeting, the current state of Azerbaijan–EU relations, cooperation opportunities in the directions of energy security, transport and communications, as well as environmental protection, and regional and international security issues were discussed.
The role played by Azerbaijan in Europe’s energy security was pointed out. The importance of historic agreements capable of creating a turning point in the field of combating climate change within the framework of our country’s COP29 Presidency, particularly including the increase of finance goals, as well as cooperation in the field of “green energy”, was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, the mine threat hindering this activity, as well as Azerbaijan’s normalization agenda with Armenia. It was noted that Armenia’s continuing territorial claims against our country constitute an obstacle to the peace process.
Touching upon the activity of the European Union Mission in Armenia, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the transformation of the said Mission, contrary to its declared goals, into a tool of the propaganda campaign against our country causes concern.
At the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other topics standing on the agenda and of mutual interest.
