No:466/24, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev to the Kingdom of Morocco

On 27–29 November 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev was on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
On 27 November, the Deputy Minister participated in a roundtable held at the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies located in the city of Rabat, attended by young diplomats from Morocco and a number of other African countries.
Speaking on the topic of “Azerbaijan’s foreign policy”, F. Rzayev answered questions addressed regarding the foreign policy course pursued by our country in bilateral and multilateral dimensions, current processes taking place in the region, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, Azerbaijan’s successful Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the decisions adopted within the framework of COP29.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister participated in the 16th International MEDays Forum on the topic of “Sovereignty and resilience capacities: towards a new global balance”, held in the city of Tangier under the patronage of the King of Morocco.
Nearly 6 thousand representatives from more than 100 countries participated in the Forum. Speaking at the panel session of the Forum dedicated to the topic of energy transitions, F. Rzayev spoke about our country’s policy in the field of transition to green energy and use of alternative energy sources, as well as the works carried out by Azerbaijan’s Presidency within the framework of COP29.
On 29 November, in his speech at the panel session on the topic of “global governance crisis and multilateralism”, the Deputy Minister informed the participants of the Forum about Azerbaijan’s foreign and security policy.
Stating that Azerbaijan, starting from the first days of the restoration of its independence, attaches special importance to the supremacy of international law and multilateralism, F. Rzayev touched upon the threats faced by our country and the consequences of the Armenian occupation. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan contributes importantly to integration processes in the wider region through important energy and transport projects. Attention was directed to Azerbaijan’s successful Chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for 4 years.
