No:454/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, Minister of International Development of the Kingdom of Norway

On 16 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, Minister of International Development of the Kingdom of Norway, who is on a visit to our country to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

 

At the meeting, prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Norway, issues arising from our country’s COP29 Presidency, as well as the regional situation were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing information on our COP29 Presidency and the negotiation process conducted, noted the importance of agreeing on the agenda of the session on the first day of COP29 in terms of discussing the issues standing on the agenda, as a result of the efforts carried out by our country in the direction of advancing the climate action agenda. It was stressed that in the negotiation process, agreements have been reached to date on Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, as well as on increasing the annual climate finance commitment by multilateral financial institutions from 75 billion to 170 billion US dollars.

 

The other side was also informed about the former Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict and the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as our country’s peace efforts. Along with this, the mine threat created by Armenia was underscored.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
