No:415/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia

On 15 October 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia was conducted in the city of Belgrade.
The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of the Republic of Serbia was headed by Damjan Jović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, discussions were conducted on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, the current state and development prospects of cooperation in political, economic, energy and humanitarian fields, including within the framework of international organizations, as well as strategic energy and transport projects implemented by our country.
It was stated that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan will host in November of the current year, will create new opportunities for the development of the existing strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The importance of Azerbaijan–Serbia interparliamentary cooperation was emphasized, and it was noted that in this regard, further intensification of mutual visits and contacts in bilateral and multilateral formats would be useful.
At the meeting, detailed information was provided to the other side about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards establishing lasting peace, the mine problem in our liberated territories and the restoration and construction works carried out there.
During the political consultations, regional and international issues, as well as other topics of mutual interest, were also discussed.
During the visit, F. Rzayev also met with other officials of Serbia, as well as participated in discussions held in a roundtable format with researchers and experts.
