No:405/24, Press release on the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan

As a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on 18 September 2024, the repatriation of 6 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the Syrian Arab Republic, and on 7 October 2024, the repatriation of 2 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the Republic of Iraq to our country was carried out.
First of all, the location, identity and affiliation of the repatriates to citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan were determined.
Representatives of relevant state institutions responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from Syria and Iraq were dispatched to the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Iraq, and the initial medical and psychological examination of the repatriates was ensured.
Through relevant coordination work carried out by the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in those countries, our citizens were provided with certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the repatriation of the mentioned citizens to our country was carried out under the accompaniment of the delegation.
The implementation of relevant measures towards the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into society is envisaged.
The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue taking necessary measures for the repatriation of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have become victims of armed conflict in the territories of foreign countries.
