On 24 October 2025, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated and delivered a speech at the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN).

In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the important role of the UN as one of the main pillars of multilateral diplomacy and conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the organization.

He noted that Azerbaijan, as an active and responsible member of the UN, has been represented in the main bodies of the organization, including the Security Council in 2012–2013, as well as three times in the Economic and Social Council.

The Minister pointed out that the growing influence and leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the global stage have been further strengthened through contributions to the key initiatives of the UN. In this context, Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2019–2023, hosting of the Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations in 2016, and hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in 2024 were particularly noted.

It was recalled that in 2026 Azerbaijan will host two important UN events – the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is the main platform of the UN on urbanization, and World Environment Day. It was noted that these events, by emphasizing the interconnection between climate action and sustainable urbanization, demonstrate Azerbaijan’s commitment to the green energy transition and its leading role in global climate diplomacy.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan, in full alignment with the UN Global Agenda, attaches particular importance to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, applying digital innovations, empowering women and youth, humanitarian initiatives, and promoting intercultural dialogue.

It was stated that the implementation of the Azerbaijan-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework covering 2021–2025 has been successfully completed, and that the new document for 2026–2030 signed today will mark the beginning of a new stage in Azerbaijan-UN partnership.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the large-scale reconstruction and rebuilding works carried out in our territories liberated from occupation following the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, as well as the important steps taken towards establishing an environment of stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus.

The Minister noted that the Joint Declaration signed in Washington on 8 August 2025 and other historic agreements reached constitute an important stage in advancing the peace process in the region.

At the end of his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov called for strengthening partnerships, exploring new areas of cooperation, and increasing joint efforts to build a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

At the end of the event, the Azerbaijan-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework document for 2026–2030 was signed.
