No:399/24, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov to Mexico

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to Mexico to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

 

Following the ceremony, which took place in the capital city of Mexico City, in the parliament building of the country, during the meeting between President Claudia Sheinbaum and special guests participating in the event, Deputy Minister E. Mammadov expressed confidence that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, which are developing on an upward trajectory in various fields, will continue to develop hereafter.

 

He also specially conveyed, on behalf of the country’s leadership, the invitation to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Baku in November of this year.

 

President C. Sheinbaum thanked the Deputy Minister for the representation of the Government of Azerbaijan at this ceremony, and also stated that she is interested in further strengthening the existing cooperation relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan.

 

During the conversation between the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, who participated in the ceremony, and the Deputy Minister, prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields were touched upon.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister also met with the current President of the Senate of Mexico, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, and later with Sergio Carlos Gutiérrez Luna, Acting President of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico.

 

The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for the fair position and solidarity demonstrated by the Government and Parliament of Mexico during the period of the former conflict, as well as for the recognition of the Khojaly genocide by both chambers of the Mexican Congress, and provided information on the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period.

 

Within the framework of the visit, E. Mammadov also met with Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama. During the meeting, prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, the existence of opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries in economic, transport, alternative energy, humanitarian and other fields was discussed, as well as the importance of further developing multilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations was emphasized.
