On 25 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, within the framework of his participation in the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The role and importance of mutual high-level visits and continuous political dialogue in expanding the scope and enriching the content of bilateral relations were subject to an exchange of views.
Information was provided on the preparatory works for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which Azerbaijan will host this year.
The other side was informed in detail about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, mine threats, and the course of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
It was emphasized that the continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenian legislation, as well as the rapid armament of this country, are the main factors posing a threat to the process of building sustainable peace in the region.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
