On 25 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated and delivered a speech at the informal meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) within the framework of his participation in the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that on the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Nakhchivan Agreement, which is the founding document of the Organization, he is proud to witness the deepening of cooperation among Turkic-speaking states, the further strengthening of ties among our peoples and the growing strategic importance of the OTS in the international arena.
In the speech, the successful development of cooperation among the OTS member states within the framework of the OTS today in political, economic, transport, energy, medicine, agriculture, tourism, information, media, communication technologies, youth and sports, as well as other fields, was noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the current development dynamics of the Organization, including its growing international prestige day by day, emphasizes the necessity of further improving the activities of the OTS and further expanding its functional capabilities.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the increase in the number of annual summits from one to two at the initiative of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has created an important platform for discussing cooperation opportunities within the framework of the Organization.
It was noted that this year, with the organization of the informal summit of the Organization in the city of Shusha, cooperation within the framework of the OTS received a new impetus, and the adoption of the Garabagh Declaration is of great historical significance for the Turkic world.
It was emphasized that Azerbaijan also attaches special importance to the activities of TURKPA, TURKSOY, the Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Turkic Investment Fund, which operate in connection with the OTS.
Satisfaction was expressed with the successful completion of the work on the creation of a common alphabet at the initiative of the Turkic Academy, and confidence was expressed that the new common Turkic alphabet, officially adopted on 11 September 2024, will significantly elevate our cooperation.
