No:364/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic

On 24 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, within the framework of his participation in the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, political, economic, trade, energy, defense and security aspects of the Azerbaijan–Italy strategic partnership, interparliamentary relations, and cooperation on humanitarian issues were discussed.
The importance of cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, and the fact that large-scale projects implemented in this direction play an important role in Europe’s energy security, were stressed.
The importance of using existing opportunities for continuing our cooperation in the field of development of alternative energy sources was emphasized.
The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, culture, tourism and sports.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the Presidency activities of Azerbaijan for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the new cooperation opportunities created by COP29.
Speaking about the course of the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenian legislation pose a main obstacle to the process.
Along with this, at the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
