On 25 August 2024, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
During the phone call, the existing bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as regional issues, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov first congratulated his counterpart on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, wished him success in his activities, and also invited Seyed Abbas Araghchi to visit Azerbaijan.
The sides expressed agreement on further strengthening cooperation in the implementation of joint projects in a number of areas between Azerbaijan and Iran, including economy, trade, transport, and communications. In this regard, the importance of the State Commission on economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was emphasized.
Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi expressed his gratitude to his counterpart for the congratulations and good wishes on his appointment, and noted his satisfaction with the resumption of the activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the phone call, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest and emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to further develop cooperation relations between the two countries.
