No:304/24, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin

On 30 July 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin.

 

During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission. The Ambassador noted that he would spare no effort to further develop relations between the two countries.

 

During the meeting, the existing strategic partnership agenda between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the implementation of the agreements reached during the recent official visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, and future plans were discussed.

 

The sides highly appreciated the existing strategic cooperation relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries and emphasized the necessity of further deepening cooperation in many areas.

 

Referring to the trilateral meeting held on 3 July of this year between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, it was noted that strengthening the trilateral format would contribute not only to the development of the peoples of the three countries, but also to the strengthening of regional and global peace and stability.

 

The importance of mutual support within multilateral formats, including the United Nations, as well as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was emphasized. Congratulations were extended on Pakistan’s election as a member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025-2026.

 

It was also noted that within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), additional opportunities have emerged for high-level contacts between the two countries.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
