No:299/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with young diplomats newly recruited to the diplomatic service

25 July 2024 15:07

On 25 July 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with young diplomats who have started their professional activity at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a result of the second recruitment competition for admission to the diplomatic service.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov sincerely congratulated the young diplomats who successfully completed the multi-stage competition process and began working in the diplomatic service bodies, and wished them success in their future activities.

Recommendations were provided to the young professionals, who will begin their diplomatic careers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for implementing the foreign policy determined by the Head of State, on applying their academic and practical knowledge and skills in this responsible work.

Providing detailed information on the history of Azerbaijan’s diplomacy, as well as the fundamentals and priorities of our foreign policy, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the current independent, sovereign and ambitious foreign policy course successfully implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, is based on the difficult decisions taken by National Leader Heydar Aliyev during the complex conditions of the early years of our independence.

It was noted that with the elimination of the challenges of military occupation and conflict faced in the early years of independence, Azerbaijan has emerged in the system of international relations as a country taking initiative in combating regional and global challenges and capable of implementing these initiatives. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, its exemplary chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, and its presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) are clear evidence of this.

It was underlined that diplomats must continuously work on improving their knowledge and skills to ensure the successful implementation of the active foreign policy pursued by Azerbaijan, and it was noted that this process will be supported through a number of programs to be implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It should be noted that based on the results of the recruitment competition, which consisted of a written exam (test tasks, analytical writing skills, and foreign language proficiency) and interview stages, a total of 57 candidates (29 women and 28 men) successfully completed the interview stage. Of these candidates, 35 have already started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and further appointments are expected in the near future.
