No:293/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Romania

On 16 July 2024, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Romania was held in the city of Bucharest.

 

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fariz Rzayev, while the Romanian delegation was headed by State Secretary Ana Cristina Tinca.

 

During the political consultations, discussions were conducted on strengthening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, the current state and prospects of cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian fields, including within international organizations, as well as strategic energy and transport projects implemented at the initiative and with the participation of our country.

 

An exchange of views was also carried out on the preparations and ongoing work related to COP29 to be hosted by Azerbaijan in November this year, and it was noted that this prestigious event will create new opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries.

 

During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the normalization of Armenia–Azerbaijan relations, the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards establishing lasting peace in the region, the mine problem in the liberated territories, and the large-scale reconstruction and restoration works carried out there.

 

The sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues, as well as other matters of mutual interest.

 

During the visit, F. Rzayev also met with other officials of Romania and delivered remarks at an event held with representatives of think tanks.
