No:278/24, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Israel Katz

On 28 June 2024, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Israel Katz.

 

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, as well as international and regional issues, including the situation around Gaza.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza in the short term, refraining from targeting civilians on both sides, and resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict through peaceful means.

 

During the telephone conversation, the necessary work and plans to be carried out within the framework of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) for the period 2024–2026 were reviewed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to the other side on the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale reconstruction and rebuilding works carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

 

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan’s presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) creates additional opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

 

During the conversation, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
