No:276/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On 25 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu.

 

During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission in our country.

 

Subsequently, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the current security issues in the region, including the Israel-Iran confrontation, were discussed.

 

The importance of contacts between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the existing political dialogue, in the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran was emphasized, and it was noted that discussions on issues of mutual interest contribute to the expansion of cooperation.

 

In connection with the Israel-Iran confrontation, the position and concern demonstrated by our country were once again brought to attention. Condolences were conveyed to the Ambassador over the deaths of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, other officials, and Iranian citizens. It was noted that existing issues must be resolved solely through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

 

Gratitude was expressed to the Azerbaijani side for creating conditions for the transit of citizens of various countries, including Iran, through Azerbaijan’s land border.

 

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
