No:262/25, Press release on the participation and address of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir

On 22 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated and delivered a speech at the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In his address, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan supports the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, the UN Charter, and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
In this regard, the importance of full compliance with international humanitarian law, the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of the population, including the preservation of the demographic structure of the region, was emphasized.
The Minister noted that Azerbaijan highly appreciates the sustained attention given to this issue within the OIC, particularly within the framework of the Contact Group.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of the early settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in terms of ensuring overall stability and security in South Asia.
He expressed that Azerbaijan follows with concern the tensions recently observed in the region.
The ceasefire agreement announced between India and Pakistan on 10 May 2025 was welcomed, and hope was expressed that this step would serve as a foundation for sustained dialogue and long-term normalization of relations between the two countries.
