No:253/25, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Austria

On 20 June 2025, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Austria was held in the city of Vienna.

 

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, while the Austrian delegation was led by the Director for Political Affairs of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Hannah Liko.

 

During the consultations, political relations between the two countries were discussed, and the importance of mutual visits and meetings within the framework of international events for maintaining continuous dialogue was emphasized.

 

Subsequently, discussions were held on the current state and development prospects of cooperation in economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian fields, as well as within international organizations, including strategic energy and transport projects implemented with the initiative and participation of our country.

 

At the same time, projects implemented in the field of humanitarian demining were discussed, and the importance of developing an appropriate legal and contractual framework to expand cooperation in this and other areas was highlighted.

 

During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the steps taken by Azerbaijan to ensure sustainable peace in the region, the obstacles encountered, as well as large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out in the liberated territories.

 

At the end, the sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

During the visit, F. Rzayev also held working meetings with other Austrian officials and participated in discussions held in a roundtable format with representatives of leading research and think tanks.
