No:243/24, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan

On 4 June 2024, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the telephone conversation, the work carried out within the framework of the strategic partnership between our countries, cooperation prospects in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, as well as regional and international issues were discussed.
At the same time, the importance of the recent assistance in the amount of 5 million US dollars provided by the UAE to ANAMA in the direction of combating the problem of mine contamination of territories, which is one of the main threats to the return of our internally displaced persons to their native lands and to reconstruction works in our region in the post-conflict period, was emphasized, and gratitude was expressed to the other side for this. It was noted that the assistance provided is an expression of solidarity.
It was noted that within the framework of Baku Energy Week, the laying of the foundation of the Neftchala and Bilasuvar power plants and the Absheron–Garadagh Wind Power Plant on 4 June, as well as the Shareholders Agreement signed between SOCAR and the UAE’s Masdar company on three renewable energy projects, made a positive contribution to the expansion of investment cooperation between the two countries.
At the same time, within the framework of Azerbaijan’s presidency and hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), an exchange of views was held on cooperation with the UAE’s COP28 presidency, as well as on the current state and prospects of cooperation between our countries in the direction of transition to green energy.
During the telephone conversation, directions of cooperation within other international platforms were also discussed.
The sides conveyed their congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha and expressed their most sincere wishes.
