No:208/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, Berek Eren

On 4 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Berek Eren, within the framework of his participation in the Banjul Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

 

During the meeting, cooperation opportunities between Azerbaijan and the IOFS, as well as our country’s international assistance programs, were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that our country is interested in developing cooperation with specialized institutions operating in various fields within the framework of the OIC.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing detailed information to the other side about Azerbaijan’s international assistance activities as a donor state, noted the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation on such an important challenge as food security.

 

Against the backdrop of our country’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year, taking into account the linkage of the food security sector with climate change, it was brought to attention that considering cooperation opportunities within the framework of COP29 could be beneficial.

 

Director General Berek Eren, for his part, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its active activities and contributions within the framework of the OIC, and spoke about the mission and programs of the IOFS.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
