No:207/25, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev to the Republic of Cuba

The delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and COP29 Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev visited the Republic of Cuba on 22 May 2025.
Within the framework of the visit, working meetings were held with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba for multilateral cooperation Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, as well as with ambassadors accredited in Cuba from member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and an interview was given to the Cuban television channel “Cubavision Internacional.”
During the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, satisfaction was expressed with the existing successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cuba, particularly within international organizations. The sides exchanged views on combating climate change and, in this context, on the historic outcomes achieved under Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency, and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation.
During the meeting held with ambassadors of CARICOM member states in Cuba, it was stated that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with the CARICOM organization and its member states. The humanitarian and development assistance provided by Azerbaijan to small island developing states (SIDS) during and after its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement was highlighted.
At the meeting, mutual interest was expressed in expanding relations between Azerbaijan and the aforementioned organization, promoting joint projects, and strengthening cooperation within multilateral platforms.
