No:198/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh

On 12 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh within the framework of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, opportunities for the development and continuation of Azerbaijan–Bahrain cooperation in the interparliamentary dimension, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest, were discussed.
The importance of further developing bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries based on friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect and understanding, strengthening ties between the peoples, as well as expanding parliamentary diplomacy, mutual visits and exchanges between members of legislative bodies was noted.
Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bahrain within platforms such as the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement was noted with satisfaction. Gratitude was expressed for Bahrain’s support for the Parliamentary Network established within the framework of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as for the successful organization of the 2nd meeting of the Parliamentary Network in Manama.
The counterpart was informed in detail about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out by Azerbaijan in the territories liberated from occupation, efforts to combat the mine threat that poses a danger to these activities, as well as the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process.
The achievements made within the framework of bilateral normalization and peace negotiations advanced at the initiative and efforts of Azerbaijan were highlighted, and it was noted that negotiations on the text of the peace agreement have been finalized. However, it was emphasized that territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia and a number of legislative acts remain an obstacle to regional peace efforts.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
