No:187/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani

On 7 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Iraq, met with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of this country Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, historically based on friendship and mutual respect, have developed in various fields, including political, economic, and humanitarian areas, and that inter-parliamentary ties are one of the important components of these relations.
The Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between legislative bodies and mutual visits in promoting mutual understanding, and noted that there is a favorable basis for further expanding this cooperation.
During the meeting, regional and international security issues, the situation in the Middle East, as well as the realities in our region in the post-conflict period, and our country’s efforts in reconstruction, demining, and peacebuilding were discussed in detail.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
