No:176/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Sihasak Phuangketkeow

On 20 April 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Sihasak Phuangketkeow in the city of Bangkok within the framework of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand were discussed, and the existing potential for expanding cooperation was highly appreciated. Opportunities for developing political dialogue, expanding economic-trade cooperation, and deepening relations in the fields of culture and tourism were reviewed.

The official opening of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Thailand in December 2025 and the holding of the first political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries were noted as an important stage in the development of bilateral relations. It was emphasized that these steps contributed to strengthening the institutional foundations of Azerbaijan-Thailand relations and to further systematic development of cooperation.

At the meeting, the importance of strengthening mutual interaction on multilateral platforms was noted. Prospects for expanding cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, UNESCAP, CICA, ASEAN and other international organizations were discussed, and confidence was expressed that the 82nd session of UNESCAP, held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan and hosted by Thailand, will yield productive results.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information to his counterpart on the peace initiatives implemented by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period, the measures taken towards demining the territories liberated from occupation, as well as the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in those territories.

The Ministers also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
