No:174/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Ambassador of Italy to Azerbaijan, Claudio Taffuri

On 19 April 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Claudio Taffuri, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in our country.
During the meeting, issues arising from the existing multidimensional strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Claudio Taffuri for his efforts in developing relations between Azerbaijan and Italy during his tenure in our country and wished him continued success in his future activities.
It was noted with satisfaction that the multidimensional strategic partnership between the two countries across various fields, including political, economic, trade, energy security, transport and communications, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas, continues to develop, and that the existing Strategic Dialogue mechanism makes a significant contribution to bilateral relations. In this regard, the importance of continuing mutual visits and contacts, as well as political consultations, was emphasized.
The other side was informed about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in our country this year. It was noted that COP29 will contribute to enhanced cooperation in the field of combating climate change with a number of partners, including Italy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided information on the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in the liberated territories, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and expressed gratitude to the Italian side for its fair position demonstrated during the current sensitive period. It was emphasized that Italy’s position should serve as an example for certain actors demonstrating unilateral and biased approaches that pose a threat to regional peace and security-building efforts.
Ambassador Claudio Taffuri expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation extended during his diplomatic service in Azerbaijan and conveyed his confidence that the partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy will continue to strengthen in the future.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
