No:154/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Mohamad Alamin

On 15 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Mohamad Alamin.

 

During the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia in the fields of economy, trade, energy security and alternative energy, education, and tourism, as well as issues on the regional and international agenda were discussed.

 

The existence of prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation between our countries was noted, and the importance of mutual contacts and the mechanism of political consultations in this direction was touched upon.

 

At the meeting, where ways to promote Azerbaijan-ASEAN relations were discussed, opportunities for expanding cooperation within other international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) were also addressed.

 

The importance of our country’s accession to the D-8 was emphasized and welcomed.

 

It was noted with satisfaction that Azerbaijan will host the OIC Summit in Baku within the framework of its chairmanship of the OIC in 2026, and an exchange of views was held on cooperation issues within this process.

 

The other side congratulated our country, including on the successful chairmanship and hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and on the achievements attained.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.

 

On the same day, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Malaysia. The political consultations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamad Alamin from the Malaysian side.
