A tête-à-tête meeting between the ministers was held, followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of the delegations of both sides.

During the expanded meeting, issues arising from the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as the current situation in the region were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction that the historical ties of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan have been further strengthened through mutual trust and political dialogue between the leaders of the two countries and formalized by the “Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic.” It was emphasized that mutual visits and contacts contribute to the development of the existing strategic partnership relations, as well as to the expansion of the contractual and legal framework.

It was underlined that the strategic partnership relations between the two countries are further enhanced and developed through the work of the Intergovernmental Council between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation in economic and humanitarian fields.

It was noted that bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan is multifaceted, covering various areas including political, economic, trade, investment, transport and communications, tourism, culture, humanitarian and other fields. The significant cooperation potential between the two countries within the framework of the Middle Corridor was highlighted. The importance of organizing mutual cultural days and deepening cooperation in culture and arts was emphasized. Views were also exchanged on prospects for cooperation in green energy production.

At the same time, the importance of developing relations within regional and international organizations was emphasized. In particular, it was noted that there are broad prospects for cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and the need for intensive contacts among member states to utilize existing potential was highlighted. In this regard, confidence was expressed that the upcoming extraordinary summit of the OTS to be held in the city of Shusha in July of this year, as well as the official summit to be convened in Bishkek in October, will serve as important milestones in the development of the Organization.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information to the other side on Azerbaijan’s COP29 presidency, ongoing negotiations and preparations, noting that this important event creates new opportunities for cooperation.

Referring to the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as Azerbaijan’s reconstruction, rebuilding and peace efforts, and the challenges threatening regional peacebuilding, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that unilateral steps and initiatives directed against the opportunities for peace are unacceptable. Azerbaijan’s commitment to establishing peace in the region on the basis of respect for the norms and principles of international law, particularly territorial integrity and sovereignty, was once again underscored.

It was noted that Kyrgyzstan’s support for the peace and reconstruction process is highly appreciated, and that the construction of a secondary school in the village of Khydyrli in Aghdam at the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic is a clear example of this support.
