No:150/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Rule of Law and Security Institutions Alexander Zuev

On 14 April 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Rule of Law and Security Institutions, Alexander Zuev.

 

During the meeting, various aspects of Azerbaijan–UN cooperation, as well as the regional and international situation were discussed.

 

It was noted that since our country’s accession to the UN, the mutually beneficial cooperation with the Organization, our country’s active participation in the UN’s activities, and its contributions to the Organization’s peacekeeping operations are commendable, and prospects in this direction were reviewed.

 

The very well-established cooperation with the Organization in the high-level organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, held under Azerbaijan’s hosting and chairmanship, was noted with satisfaction, and the importance of the significant decisions adopted during the session, including the Baku Finance Goal, was highlighted.

 

The importance of cooperation and support in efforts to combat the mine threat, which poses a danger to the lives and health of our citizens, to the process of their dignified return to their homelands, as well as to our country’s peace and reconstruction efforts, and in humanitarian demining activities was emphasized.

 

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
