No:150/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Head of the delegation of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

On 4 April 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Head of the delegation of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, who is on a visit to our country.

During the meeting, issues arising from the existing allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu for his contributions to the strong brotherly and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, regardless of the positions he has held.

It was noted that there is significant potential for further development of mutual support and cooperation within regional and international organizations, particularly within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). It was emphasized that the historic remarks made by the esteemed President during the inauguration ceremony following the extraordinary presidential elections held in our country demonstrate that efforts to further develop the Organization will continue.

Referring to the post-conflict situation in the region, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, ongoing negotiations, and existing challenges, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with concern that certain countries located far from the region are demonstrating unilateral positions that undermine regional peace and integration efforts, as well as the fragile normalization process.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu expressed his satisfaction with his visit to our country, the useful exchange of views conducted, as well as the high level of hospitality extended.

It was noted that, as in his previous tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, he will spare no effort in his current position to further develop cooperation between the two countries.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan’s justified position and concerns regarding threats to the establishment of regional peace and security are consistently supported by Türkiye.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
